Safety and Environment (HSE)

  • Porti MBM takes all necessary measures to enforce national and international laws as well as good industry practices, in order to have a safe workplace, to protect its employees and the environment.
  • At Porti MBM pilotage is compulsory for all Vessels
  • Pilotage ought to be performed by pilots licensed by Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, Category A.
  • While piloting, pilots MUST apply pilotage standards of Republic of Albania and communication standards with Masters Department and the Ship.
  • Towage Operation is mandatory for all Vessels.
  • At Arrival and Departure Pilots must be assured that there aren’t any other ships sailing within the Port waters.
  • At MBM Port it is prohibited to discharge any kind of waste into sea water: Wastes include tank bottom sludge, which must be periodically removed to maintain product quality or tank storage capacity, as well as spill clean-up materials and soils contaminated with oil. Typically, sludge is composed of water, residual product, and various solids including sand, scale, and rust.
  • For any spillage that might occur, Masters Department of Port of Durres MUST be immediately announced, which will take proper actions to mitigate the consequences.
  • MBM Port is obliged to clean the waters around the docks and the basin according to rules and regulations issued by Masters Department.
  • MBM Port MUST take proper actions to prevent spillages at the Port and it must react quickly in case spillage will occur, and will also have to take responsibilities for its action.
  • MBM Port personnel and the equipment that will be used to prevent environment pollution MUST be certified and approved by the responsible authorities.
  • Personnel assigned for this activity must be trained and qualified and equipment which will be used in case of emergency MUST be appropriate and sufficient in order to meet the required international standards.
